Ashcroft Glamping is based in the stunning tucked away village of Hindolveston, a real undiscovered gem in the heart of the Norfolk countryside. Our family home is also based in Hindolveston and we purposely picked the location over many others due to the perfect mix of serene countryside mixed with the easy links to so many attractions and breathtaking beauty spots. We know that most people who stay with us are looking for adventure and relaxation in equal measure; normally a hard combination to find but it’s exactly what you’ll get from our unique location.
The Norfolk Broads
One of the most iconic destinations in Norfolk, the Norfolk Broads is a network of rivers and lakes perfect for boating, fishing, and bird-watching. Only 30 minutes from Ashcroft Glamping, The Broads is perfect for renting a boat for the day and exploring the tranquil waterways, or enjoying a peaceful walk along the many footpaths. With its diverse wildlife and stunning landscapes, The Broads are a nature lover's paradise.
Norwich
Only 45 minutes from Hindolveston, Norwich is rich in history and culture. Visit the magnificent Norwich Cathedral, with its striking Gothic architecture and serene cloisters. Explore the Norman Norwich Castle, now a museum and art gallery, where you can learn about the region's history. Don’t miss the vibrant Norwich Market, one of the largest open-air markets in the country, offering a variety of local produce and unique goods.
Holkham Hall
Literally only down the road, a short 35 minute drive away, Holkham hall is a stunning example of Palladian architecture and is a must-see for history enthusiasts. The hall is set within a vast estate featuring a beautiful deer park, a picturesque lake, and the enchanting Holkham Beach, one of the most unspoiled beaches in the UK. Take a guided tour of the hall to marvel at the impressive state rooms and exquisite art collection.
Sandringham Estate
40 minutes in the other direction and you reach the private country retreat of the British Royal Family. Sandringham Estate is open to the public and offers a glimpse into royal life. Wells-next-the-Sea
Less than 30 minutes from Ashcroft Glamping and you reach Wells-next-the-Sea; a charming coastal town known for its stunning beach, colourful beach huts, and bustling quay. Enjoy a leisurely walk along the beach, indulge in some fresh seafood from one of the amazing local restaurants, or take a ride on the Wells Harbour Railway. The town is also a great base for exploring the North Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Blakeney Point
For nature lovers, a visit to Blakeney Point (25 minutes from Ashcroft Glamping) is a must do. This National Nature Reserve is famous for its seal colonies, with boat trips available to see these delightful creatures up close. The reserve is also a haven for birdwatchers, with a wide variety of species to be spotted throughout the year.
Cromer
Cromer (a 35 minute drive from Hindolveston) is a traditional seaside town with a rich heritage. Known for its iconic pier, Cromer offers classic coastal experiences, from enjoying fish and chips on the beach to exploring the town’s interesting museums. Don’t miss the opportunity to sample some fresh Cromer crab, a local delicacy that’s famous throughout the UK and even better when you eat it metres from where it was caught.
The Poppy Line (North Norfolk Railway)
Take a step back in time with a ride on the Poppy Line, a heritage railway running between Sheringham and Holt that’s only 30 minutes from your base at Ashcroft Glamping. The steam and diesel trains offer a nostalgic journey through the picturesque Norfolk countryside, providing stunning views and a unique travel experience.
Blickling Estate
Only 22 minutes from our glamping site and managed by the National Trust, Blickling Estate boasts a grand Jacobean mansion surrounded by beautiful gardens and parkland. The estate is steeped in history, being the birthplace of Anne Boleyn, and offers a variety of walking and cycling trails, as well as seasonal events and activities.
Hunstanton
Known as “Sunny Hunny,” Hunstanton is a popular seaside resort that’s only 45 minutes from Hindolveston and famous for its unique striped cliffs and stunning sunsets over the Wash. The town offers plenty of family-friendly attractions, including amusements, a Sea Life Sanctuary, and lovely gardens. Enjoy a traditional beach day or explore the coastal paths.
